Ceremonial commemoration celebrates long-service & skills of the future

On Wednesday 28th July 2021, we welcomed the Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers to present employees with recognition for 25 years service.

This traditional annual event was necessarily cancelled in 2020, but this year we also took the opportunity to not only mark long service, but to also celebrate our investment in future skills of the next generation through our apprenticeship scheme and Kickstart team members. Preeta Ramachandran, Area Director Southern – Work and Health Services at Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) attended and commented, “A real privilege to join Pittards in Yeovil today and celebrate the contributions of our Kickstart participants.”

Sally Conlan and Alice Loveday from the South West Apprenticeship Company who work closely with Pittards in the creation of apprenticeships participated in the celebrations and were able to join current apprentices as they were presented, together with all other participants a commemorative copy of Gloves & Glovemaking by Mike Redwood

Special awards were presented to Chris Shead and Diana Turton who have an incredible 52 and 54 years experience respectively.

The Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers, CEO Reg Hankey and members of the apprenticeships team.

“People have always been at the heart of this 200 year old business” says CEO Reg Hankey. “We are proud to be able to perpetuate the skills that make Pittards leather so valued by major brands and be able to create employment through apprenticeships and the Kickstart programme. We will be looking to create at least ten further apprenticeships in the coming year.”
