Pittards today

The Pittards brand continues to be synonymous with innovation and advances in the manufacture of technically complex leathers. Recent years have seen the launch of Parados, a chemical- and acid-resistant leather aimed at the military, services sectors and hi-tech industrial; the CIG (Computer Image Generation) process that allows durable production of patterns such as camouflage and Armor-Tan, an abrasion-resistant leather that lends itself to incorporation in extreme condition gloves. Pittards’ hundreds of years of expertise in making highly tactile leathers is also being brought to bear in new sectors such as consumer electronics, aviation, automotive and rail transport.

Ethiopia & UK

The company has also further shaped its future by the initial joint venture (2005) and eventual ownership of a tannery in Edjersa, Ethiopia- the source for many years of the raw material to make dress gloves. Operations there have been extended through the set up of glove factories based in Addis Ababa, manufacturing work gloves, dress gloves, footwear and garments for own label and third party brands.

In the UK, Pittards acquired the heritage leathergoods brand Daines & Hathaway in 2008 and has developed manufacturing expertise in making bags, small leathergoods and clothing at its Yeovil HQ, making and marketing the premium England Collection.
